Raters - Effective

Effective runs two kinds of raters. Both use the same rating engine and API, and both open in the Relativities Python package.

Market raters

Market raters are a catalog of competitive raters built by Effective’s actuarial team. Each rater implements a carrier’s filed rates and rules, and each table and factor cites the filing page that it comes from. Browse the catalog and subscribe to a rater. Then:

Rate a submission through the API to compare your price with a competitor’s.
Download the rater and analyze its structure with Relativities, or compare several programs on the same book.

To request a carrier, line, and state, ask in the app or ask the Effective agent.

Your raters

Your raters are raters that Effective hosts for you. Build a rater via the Relativities package, with the Effective agent, or with the coding agent of your choice (e.g. Claude Code, Codex, Copilot). Deploy it with an Effective API key, and each release gets:

a version, so you can rate against any release;
an interactive rater page that shows the calculation, variables, tables, and source;
an API endpoint that rates submissions.

Write and package a rater.
Upload the bundle and release it.
Rate a submission with the latest release, or download a release to rate it locally.
